The North Camp Matters Community Association has been in existence for near ten years, during which time many things have been acheived to improve the environmental and economic well being of the area. The group consists of residents, traders and anyone with a passion for or a general interest in the area.
Steve Optix is the Chairman of the North Camp Matters Community Association
Since accepting the role of Chairman in February 2008 Steve has increased membership by over 100%. Steve has undertaken a trader consultation to find the key issues that require action in the area.
Steve has represented the group with a short talk at Farnborough Air Sciences Trust, Trenchard House, Farnborough as well as press exposure via front page press in the local media.
Working towards Steve's goal of quarterly open meetings the first was held on 23rd June 2008 and the subject was parking. This is an extremely emotive issue in North Camp and the NCMCA wanted to enable the residents and traders to air their issues directly to the people at the top, so Steve organised a meeting with Rushmoor's Head of Parking, Mike Bamber, and Director of Environmental Services, John Edwards, to arrange for them to do a presentation at the meeting as well as field questions.
Chairman's Statement from the NCMCA website:
‘It is my intention to bring new awareness to North Camp and the North Camp Matters Community Association. We have helped in the past to bring many things to North Camp and assist in the materialisation of new and better surroundings. We have the best trading and residential community in Rushmoor, a symbiotic relationship that helps one another to prosper; we now need to take that to another level.
The Association has a growing membership but it cannot be left to your neighbour to join. We need each and every one of you who wants to enhance the community spirit of the area and create more prosperous trading for the benefit of us all.
Open Meetings will be held regular with a chance for each and everyone to have their say, standing alone it’s not easy to be heard but as a collective we have a voice.’
