A SHOP that has been trading in Farnborough for 59 years has celebrated its third move to new premises.
Aldershot MP Gerald Howarth cut a ribbon to mark the opening of Brenda’s Schoolwear in Alexandra Road.
Brenda Francis opened her first shop – The Wool Shop – in Somerset Road when she was just 15.
It wasn’t until 1969 that Brenda’s started selling school uniforms when another local business closed down.
The shop still specialises in wools and knitting yarns but school uniform sales now create the bulk of its turnover.
The shop moved from its original location to Lynchford Road and then in 1968 to Peabody Road.
Brenda is now semi-retired but her daughter Jan Green now runs the shop with her son Steve.
